Thermonode — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data the Thermonode application (eu.thermonode.app, the "App") and the Thermonode service collect, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and your rights over it. Thermonode is operated by Daren Decesare ("we", "us"). For any privacy question or request, contact us at support@thermonode.eu.

Thermonode is a thermal-anomaly monitoring product. The App pairs with a Thermonode monitoring unit and shows you its readings and alerts.

1. What we collect

DataWhy
Email addressTo create and sign in to your account (we send a one-time code by email to verify it).
Phone number(s) you enter for alerts (up to 3)So your monitoring unit can send you an SMS and call you if it detects a thermal anomaly.
Device serial number and the location label you give a deviceTo link a monitoring unit to your account and show it in the App.
Device readings (temperature, gas/air-quality index, online status, uptime) To show you live status and to deliver alerts.
Push notification tokenTo deliver alerts to your phone when the App is closed.
Your acceptance of the Terms & Disclaimer (date/time)To record that you accepted the terms.

Stored only on your phone (never sent to us): your App PIN and your local list of paired devices. Clearing the App's data (the in-App "Reset") erases these from your phone.

We do NOT collect: your GPS/precise location, photos, your phone's contacts, or your camera. The App does not request those permissions. The only Android permission it uses is to show notifications.

2. How we use your data

We use the data above only to: provide the monitoring service, verify your account, deliver alerts (push, SMS and calls), show your devices and their readings, and keep the service secure and working. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Who we share it with (service providers)

We use trusted providers to run the service. They process data only to provide their service to us:

We may also disclose data if required by law.

4. Where data is processed

Our cloud services are hosted in the European Union. Some providers above may process data outside the EU under appropriate safeguards (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

5. How long we keep it

We keep your account data (email, phone numbers, device links) for as long as you have an account. Device readings are kept only as long as needed to show recent status and deliver alerts. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep it to meet a legal obligation.

6. Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA, under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, contact us at support@thermonode.eu. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

7. Children

Thermonode is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Security

Access to your account and to commands sent to your monitoring unit is protected by sign-in and server-side authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the App.
